EcoDesignTM

EcoDesignTM represents Workspace Technology's commitment to help clients reduce their carbon footprint through the deployment of energy efficient technology and design. EcoDesignTM delivers our clients with a 'Total Carbon Reduction Commitment'.

Workspace Technology is committed to total carbon reduction for our clients across the UK. Our EcoDesignTM strategy is continually reviewed and updated as new and more efficient technology and innovations become available for practical deployment.

The EcoDesignTM strategy is based on five fundamental principles.

Measure - Measurement is the key to unlocking our understanding of energy consumption and energy utilisation. Without measurement, it can be hard to understand why and where energy performance is poor and how to improve it. The deployment of a system which enables accurate energy measurement and to benchmark performance as part of a data centre design.

Reduce - Workspace Technology is committed to assist our clients in the implementation of procedures and technology to 'reduce' energy demands. Reduction in demand through maximising 'useful work' per watt in turn reducing infrastructure overhead.

Design - Workspace Technology is an approved EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency 'Endorser' and EcoDesignTM is fully compliant with the EU Code of Conduct Best Practices. Deployment of 'Best Practice' data centre design reduces infrastructure overheads relative to the critical load.

Renew - Workspace Technology encourages our clients to consider the implementation of renewable energy technology to help reduce the 'carbon content' of the electricity consumed by the data centre facility. Implementation of renewable energy sources lowers the carbon content of the data centre design energy profile.

Recover - Waste heat recovery is a process that recovers heat from hot streams with potential high energy content, such as those generated with waste heat from data centres. Heat recovery enables waste heat to be put to productive use reducing downstream energy costs.

EU Code of Conduct - Workspace Technology is an approved EU Code of Conduct Data Centre Energy Efficiency 'Endorser' which EcoDesignTM is fully compliant with the EU Code of Conduct Best Practices.
