Andrew Mitchell Minister for International Affairs and Local MP for Sutton Coldfield visits Workspace Technology.
On 3rd December the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP and Secretary of State of International Development visited Sutton Coldfield based Data Centre Design and Build Specialists, Workspace Technology Ltd. Workspace Technology Ltd, is one of the fastest growing small businesses not only within Sutton Coldfield but also within the UK’s Technology sector, during 2010.
A data centre is a dedicated facility used to house ICT equipment such as servers (computers that offer services over a network) and data storage. Data centres are used by businesses, education and government.
Data Centres are responsible for 2-3% of the UK’s total electricity use and 2% of the total amount of greenhouse gas emitted in the UK each year.
Given the Government’s commitment to the reduction of carbon emissions, reduction in spending and the creation of viable sustainable businesses and jobs, Andrew Mitchell was keen to understand how Workspace Technology is delivering on all these key objectives.
“It makes good commercial sense to use 'Green Solutions' commented Workspace Technology’s managing Director Roy Griffiths, “Workspace Technology designs data centres that cost less to implement, less to run, optimise efficiency and reduce carbon emissions this delivers advantageous commercial and environmental benefits”.
Workspace Technology’s clients are typically progressive public and private sector organisations that see the value that energy efficient data centre solutions bring, both in terms of reduced capital expenditure at the outset and whole life cost reductions. Those that have adopted this approach have in turn enabled Workspace Technology Ltd’s own rapid growth.
"We have a total commitment to sustainable commercial enterprise for both ours and that of our clients – that commitment is not only delivered through our specialist approach to client' solutions, but also extended to our own operational sustainability, we employ local staff, and encourage the use of public transport, we use local and national UK based companies wherever possible, and promote the use of environmentally friendly materials in our solutions". Commented Andy Orton Workspace Technology’s Sales Director.
Workspace Technology is based in Sutton Coldfield not merely for it’s central location and convenience to cover the UK, but also because of the high standard of personnel available, and the locally supporting infrastructure. Away from the Midlands area they employ regional specialist engineers to deliver their solutions at local levels on a national basis.
Workspace Technology values the interest Andrew Mitchell has shown both as a representative of the Government, and of their commitments to reduce carbon emissions and gain greater value for the tax payer pound, but also for his support and commitment to assist local developing business’s and the promotion of Sutton Coldfield as an attractive commercial base.
