Data Centre Optimisation is Essential

13th, May 2013

Data Centres typically house mission critical I.T equipment which drive essential business functions and services. The failure of mission critical data centre infrastructure very often will result in significant disruption to business operations. The cost of data centre infrastructure downtime can be crippling, therefore it is essential that effective data centre support contracts are implemented.

Very often Data Centre Managers are focused on performance and availability of core ICT services, with little opportunity or the means to manage optimum energy efficiency within their facilities, and as a consequence the data centre PUE will slowly drift from the peak design capability. This drifting PUE will cost organisations many tens of thousands of pounds in wasted energy due to inefficient deployment of data centre infrastructure, unbalanced arrangements and poor configuration selections.

Workspace Technology not only has the ability to deliver planned preventative maintenance and associated break fix callout on a wide range of cooling, UPS, generator, fire suppression and associated infrastructure but also has the required expertise and knowledge required to offer enhanced “optimisation” services specific to data centre environments. These optimisation services can help contribute to data centre energy bill reductions.

Workspace Technology's Maintenance & Support Services are summarised below;

  • Data Centre Optimisation
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Emergency Callout Break Fix

The table below provides an overview of the capabilities that data centre and facilities managers should assess when selecting service partners.
